Tech
Today we started our new rotation at tech. We are making clocks with Mrs Ferguson. First we had to make a collage of the things that we like. I put on things like The Flash, Naruto and other things. Next we had to make a drawing and put on the types of clocks such as digital clocks, hand clocks and wall clocks. Next week we will finish off our work and chose who the clock will be for.
NYLD
Yesterday the school leaders went to the Vodafone Event Center for national young leaders day. We had guest's come and talk to us about different things. The guests were Arron Jackson, Daniel Flynn, Adam and Duane and lots more. The speakers were really helpful and inspiring. My favourite speaker was Daniel Flynn because he did something that seemed impossible.

Metaphor DLO
For this task I had to put some metaphors in order. I did this for writing. We were matching and correcting the metaphors. Next we had to highlight the metaphor in a sentence. I enjoyed this task because it was kind of challenging for me. A metaphor is like a simile but a simile uses like or as.

Dance
Today for dance we were learning about free flow and bound flow. The first thing that we did was warm up. This week we used Mrs Linda, Ma'ata and Magenta demonstrations for our warm up. Next we watched a video that told us about free flow which means moving like we don't have bones and bound flow which means moving from muscles. We then learned about twisted shapes, straight shapes, curved shapes, angular shapes, high, medium and low levels. Next we found our partner and did a dance that involved a circle, triangle and square shape. We used a piece of music called Oxygene by the composer name Jean-Michel Jarre.
Pizza Problem
This is my maths DLO. It is about a problem that happens in a pizza shop. Solving it was hard but with some help I understood it very well. I was working with Shannon to create this. This question was one of two questions and this is the harder one.

Chunky Challenge Word Cloud
For reading I made this word cloud. It was part of the chunky challenge I did. For this challenge I had to present the word I found out about. The chunk that I did this week was "est". I found out some new words while I was working through the presentation. On the presentation I had to find words that have "est" in them. Then I had to write a simple compound and complex sentence with a word that you have found. If you want to create a word cloud click here.
World Of Maths Visit
Yesterday the World of Maths came to Panmure Bridge School. We were put into groups so we could work collaboratively and help each other. A man named Charles came and set up all of the activities for us. There was a lot of trial and error and problem solving at different activities. My group worked very well together. We all took turns, collaborated, worked as a team and negotiated to solve the problems. I was using the key competencies which were thinking, relating to others, managing self, participating and contributing and using language symbols and text. My Favourite activity was birds eye view. Birds eye view was my favourite because it was hard and I like to challenge myself. The math I used in birds eye view was shapes and navigating it on the board.

Dance
Today we started our dance with Mrs Anderson. First we explored what a warm up was and we did one. A warm up is to prepare the body for exercise by doing stretches or some kind of movement. Our task was to create a warm up routine. I was with Freeman. I liked how we could explore the internet to find a interesting move that will wake up our bodies. Next time my partner and I need to practice our timing So we can move at the same time.

Reduce Reuse Recycle
For this task I had to research the meaning of reduce, reuse and recycle. I did this because it is our inquiry topic this term. I learnt that reduce reuse and recycle is a cycle. I also learnt that some of the landfill could be recycled but it is not.
Ivory Ban In China
For this current event task we looked at the ivory ban in China. Elephants tusks are made from ivory. They are used for art and manufacturing. We looked at the different points of views about ivory ban. Some people think that it is good while others hated the decision. The people who cut off the tusks are called poachers. I worked with Te Wai for this DLO. I think that China is doing the right thing because elephants could become endangered.
Chunky Challenge
For this task I had to find words that have the chunk ake in it. I put down all of the chunk words that I already know, then I found some new words that have ake in them. I then decided to put all of the Ake words on to a word cloud.

Is Recycling Really Helping Our Planet
Today for reading we were asked a question to get our brains thinking. The question was: Is recycling really helping our planet. We created a padlet to record our information. We wrote down our opinions. This is called prior knowledge. Most of our group said yes because it has reduced rubbish in our landfill.
