What Is A Coalition

Today we have been following the election results and what a coalition is. We found out that NZ first has the power to chose who our government is. We did some questions that we had to answer. At the end of the task everyone in our group had to know what a Coalition was. I was working with Miki, Josh S, Te Wai and Freeman.

Why Its Great To Be Me

Its great to be me because I have a lot of positive qualities that make who I am for example, I am thoughtful towards other people. I have created a Tagul with words that describe why its great to be young (11 - 13). I was working with Te Wai, Fraidoon and Freeman. We did this because we were learning to strengthen our ability to make positive choice. First we made a list of words of why it is good to be young. When we finished we transferred our words onto a word cloud.

Matariki Inquiry

Today I started an inquiry. It was for Matariki. I watched a video about Matariki and the Seven Sisters. I worked with Tiava to make a DLO and answer the questions about Matariki. We did this because Matariki started yesterday. We were given questions about the video that we have answered.

Rubbish Solutions

Today for inquiry we had a provocation that we needed to explore. I was working with Mathias,
Oh Hsen and Eric. As a team we had to come up with our own opinions and chose which one was the best but we couldn't speak. Our provocation was about the rubbish in our school and how we can resolve the problem of rubbish. Our whole group came up with this opinion: We can put out more bins because people might be lazy to walk to the bin. 

Reduce Reuse Recycle

For this task I had to research the meaning of reduce, reuse and recycle. I did this because it is our inquiry topic this term. I learnt that reduce reuse and recycle is a cycle. I also learnt that some of the landfill could be recycled but it is not.    

Te Oro Prensentations

Today, students from every school in the Maniakalani cluster went down to Te Oro to present there learning about our inquiry for term 1. Our inquiry was Te Taiao O Tamaki or the environment of tamaki. I watched the live stream of the performances from school. The performance I liked best was Glen Innes School because they were not scared to get on stage. If you want to watch the performances click here.

Auckland Water Conservation

I have made a DLO about Auckland having to conserve water. There was some bad weather which caused a dam to overflow and that water took everything that pollutes water. We were using our learning from Inquiry and when sally came in to help people understand it better. If you want to learn more click here. 

Water Care With Sally

I have completed my water testing DLO with Jeremiah. It has information about the experiments we did. The school leaders will be going down to Johnson reserve to test the water to see if it is polluted.

Compare And Contrast

This is my Compare and Contrast that I have worked on today with Jorja. First the Y7s of LS2 made a timeline about Jean Batten. Then we could chose a famous aviator to create a timeline about. We chose Richard Pearse. After that we made a DLO comparing Richard Pearse to Jean Batten. To compare and contrast is to compare something to something or someone.

Yr7 Collaborative Popplet

This term our inquiry focus was on the Bartailed Godwit but in Maori it is known as the Kuaka. The Yr7's have created a popplet together that tells informations about the appearance, habitat, Migration diet and what effects Godwit/Kuaka in different ways. We also added in some images and videos to give a clear picture of the special bird.  Did you know that they have a 8-9 day non stop flight, this adds up to one whole week and one day which is a short period of time considering they are flying long distance. We look forward to learn more about the unique birds.

Hauora

This is my DLO that I have finished today. I was working with Rachael and Calvin. We were learning about Hauora and its four walls. We had challenges to complete and our teacher that was working with us was Mrs Anderson.

Ancient And Modern Olympics

This is my inquiry DLO that I have finished. I worked with Zahn, Thomas and CJ. We were with Mrs Naiker and we learnt about the ancient and modern Olympics. I will be going to a new rotation for two weeks and then to the next
